Working with the Community

The City has been working closely with the community over several years to ensure your voices are heard in shaping the future of Bluff Point’s coastline. Here’s how we’ve engaged with you:

Previous consultation

  • 2016 – Initial community engagement
    • Presentation at the Coastal Adaptation Planning Forum
    • Informed the community about CHRMAP and their involvement
  • 2017 to 2018 – Engagement informing the CHRMAP
    • Coastal Planning Community Survey to identify priorities and concerns
    • Coastal Planning Workshops to explore ideas and solutions together
    • Information Sessions to share updates with and receive feedback from the community

Current engagement (2024-2025)

  • A Community Webinar was held on 10 October 2024
  • The webinar was recorded and is now available on the project website here
  • Community values survey to understand if Bluff Point community values from previous community engagement had changed
  • Two Drop-in Sessions were held on 5 December 2024 for project stakeholders to learn more about the proposed concept adaptation options and provide their feedback, discuss issues and concerns with the project team, understand the multi-criteria analysis (MCA) tool and vote for priorities and to gain a better understanding of the extensive and complex process of selecting a preferred coastal adaptation option for Bluff Point.
  • An online feedback form was available from 5 December 2024 - 13 January 2025 for project stakeholders. This ensured equity by providing those who were unable to attend the drop-in sessions the opportunity to provide their feedback and vote for their priority social sub-criteria for use in the MCA.
