Access matting

As part of the City's ongoing commitment to facilitating the inclusion of people with disability and improving access to services, programs and events, the City has provided two beach access matting points along the Geraldton Foreshore.

Providing access matting at the beach allows for all seasons access to the sand and sea for people of all abilities, whether they be people with disabilities, parents with prams, seniors or anyone who have any mobility impediment.

The first beach access matting point is located at Town Beach, directly across from Geraldton Yacht Club. This location also offers a more traditional ramp, providing more options for access to the beach.

The second beach access matting point is located at Champion Beach, near the iconic Rubik’s Cube toilets on the Geraldton Foreshore. The beach access matting at this location has been made possible by a collaboration between the City of Greater Geraldton, Access to Leisure and Sport (ATLAS) and Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club (CBSLSC).
