Centacare's 2024 Volunteer of the Year ceremony held last week honoured the efforts of the QEII Seniors and Community Centre with the Centre taking out top spot in one of the categories.
Winning the award for Volunteer-Involving Organisation of the Year, the Centre and its volunteers were acknowledged for their tireless commitment and efforts to making seniors in the Midwest more engaged and socially active.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune congratulated and thanked everyone for their work.
“The volunteers of the QEII Seniors and Community Centre are the backbone of what makes the Centre so successful,” he said.
“On behalf of the Council, I thank all volunteers of the Centre for their work and determination in making the QEII Centre a place for all.”
The QEII Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm at 88 Durlacher Street.
Some of the activities that take place include pickle ball, table tennis, indoor bowls, Pilates, African drumming, art classes, bingo, line dancing and Zumba plus much more.
