Residents and businesses in Mullewa can now benefit from the fastest and most reliable nbn internet technology following the completion of fibre upgrades.
Under the Regional Connectivity Program, Mullewa was upgraded from satellite technology to fibre to the premises – which now gives about 320 homes and businesses access to fixed fibre internet.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune thanked the Australian Government.
“By upgrading the internet service in Mullewa, residents are now better connected and have more digital opportunities,” he said.
“Faster internet services enhance the town’s liveability by facilitating access to services including telehealth, online training and government services.
“I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Australian Government for providing this service to the Mullewa community.”
Head of nbn local WA, Naomi Evans said the completion of the project in Mullewa would bring significant improvement to the nbn network internet reliability, speed, accessibility and economic benefits to locals.
“Fibre enables a faster, more reliable broadband connection by running a fibre optic line directly to homes and businesses,” she said.
“The nbn network currently carries more than 80% of Australian data and the demand for faster and more reliable internet over the nbn network is the highest we’ve ever seen.”
