Perth artist Naomi Grant’s ‘Manifestation’ has taken out the 2021 Mid West Art Prize People’s Choice Award after a record number of votes from the public.
Ms Grant’s outstanding work proved to be the most popular piece in the exhibition, garnering the lion’s share of the 1,000 votes cast by the visiting public.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn offered his congratulations.
“The Mid West Art Prize is the seminal art competition of our region and it is fantastic that this event attracts so many elite artists from all over the state,” he said.
“The widespread appeal for artists to participate can only increase the level of artistic capacity generated here in the Midwest region. This year’s high number of votes for the People’s Choice Award illustrates just how important the arts are to our community.
“Congratulations to Naomi Grant on the win and thank you to our Local Member Lara Dalton MLA for sponsoring the category.”
The $1,500 prize awarded to Naomi Grant in this highly-coveted category was sponsored by Member for Geraldton Lara Dalton MLA.

“The arts are vital to the health of our community, and I commend the City of Greater Geraldton for its’ ongoing support of the Mid West Art Prize.

The Mid West Art Prize is the biennial flagship exhibition of the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery.
