Free mulch and delivery for community members

Members of the community can now get free mulch delivered straight to their homes as part of the City of Greater Geraldton’s newest green waste initiative.

With an increase in green waste to the City’s landfill facility, the volume of mulch has increased dramatically and amidst the current health crisis, the City is looking to re-deploy stood down staff where possible.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said it was a great outcome for all.

“Many people have been cleaning up around the home and getting around to doing their gardening so we’ve seen a lot of green waste entering our facility,” he said.

“While mulch is free from the tip, many people don’t have trailers or utes to come and pick it up.

“During this time, we are also encouraging people to stay at home and only visit our facilities if absolutely necessary.

“The new initiative is a great way we can re-deploy staff back into the work place and also our community can have their gardens looking slick with mulch delivered straight to their home.”

To register for free mulch delivery, community members can head to the City’s website to fill out a form.

People are advised that the mulch may not be free from contamination due to it being produced from waste products but the City and its Contractor have done all it can to reduce these contamination levels.

Please refer to the application form on the City’s website for assistance on the quantity of mulch that will suit your needs.
