A plan to upgrade the Youth Precinct on the Geraldton Foreshore has been endorsed by Council with young people set to enjoy a new modern facility in the coming months.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said Council have listened to the aspirations of young people for recreation facilities in the CBD.
“Over the past eight months the City has engaged extensively with young people and youth service providers regarding the Youth Precinct,” he said.
“Through a series of workshops, young people told us what amenities and facilities they wanted in the space.
“The wider community clearly agrees with their vision as the majority of the feedback we received on the Concept Masterplan strongly supports the design.
“I’d like to thank everyone who was involved, especially the high school student leaders, who worked closely with the City and the urban designers to develop the plan,” Mayor Clune continued.
“Youth have been asking for things to do and now it’s time for Council to deliver,” he finished.
The Masterplan will be developed to a preliminary design for a final round of feedback prior to progressing to detailed design and delivery.
The City has allocated $4 million in the 2024/25 Budget to upgrade the Youth Precinct.
