Whether you’re an avid reader or just looking to connect with others who share your passion for books, the newly formed Chapter Bay Book Club (CBBC) may just have what you’re after.

In a first for the Midwest and Gascoyne, CBBC encourages individuals and groups to form their own book clubs, nominate a group coordinator and enjoy the benefits of shared reading experiences.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said this initiative is a great way to nurture friendships through reading.

“Through this new initiative, the Library is encouraging new book club membership by addressing the cost barrier as a lot of regional book clubs pay a hefty fee to have book club sets shipped to them,” he said

“By bringing people together through the CBBC, we’re not only supporting literacy but also building stronger, more connected communities across the Midwest.

“Chapter Bay Book Club is about creating connections, sharing ideas, and fostering a sense of community through the love of literature.

“I encourage everyone to get involved and discover the power of books in bringing people together,” finished Mayor Clune.

Chapter Bay Book Club is available exclusively to book clubs based in the Midwest and Gascoyne, each participating book clubs can have up to 10 members, with a suggested minimum of six members.

Members of the Chapter Bay Book Club are entitled to borrow up to 10 kits per year. Book club kits comprise 10 copies of the same title, together with background notes and discussion questions.

Each book club member is also encouraged to be a member of either the Geraldton or Mullewa Libraries, or one of their partner Libraries in the Mid West Libraries Consortium.
