Over $500,000 has gone back into the community through the Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Card program, seeing the initiative be extended for a further two years.

Launched in 2021 and growing from strength to strength, City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is expecting to see sales soar this festive season.

“The Buy Local Gift Cards make for wonderful gifts – especially for those people in your life that can be tricky to buy for. With over 80 businesses involved in the program there really is something for everyone,” he said.

“Sales skyrocket during the festive season, and I’d like to put a challenge to our community and see if we can reach $600K by Christmas.

“With the Buy Local Gift Cards you’re investing in our community and helping others to do the same.”

Cards can be purchased at any IGA Group stores (Rigters, Queens and Wonthella), Mitchell and Brown Retravision, Cellarbrations Bottle Shops, Ivy Vibe and Sportsfirst Geraldton.

The Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Card program is made possible through ongoing support from partners Rio Tinto, GWN7, Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rigters IGA Group and Mitchell and Brown Retravision.

The City is committed to seeing businesses in Greater Geraldton succeed and the community spending local, which form key parts of the Strategic Community Plan and Corporate Business Plan.
