ANZAC Day will be commemorated this month as the community acknowledges those who have fought for our country.

In collaboration with the Geraldton City RSL Sub-Branch, the City of Greater Geraldton will host ANZAC Day Services at Birdwood House on Friday 25 April.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune expressed the importance of coming together.

ANZAC Day provides an occasion to reflect on the sacrifices made for our country,” he said.

“We honour those who have died and those who continue to fight for Australia’s future and our democratic values.

“I look forward to attending the services and paying my respect to those who have defended our way of life, and I encourage everyone to take the time to attend a service and reflect.”

The Dawn Service will begin at 6am and the Main Service will follow at 11am. This year, the simulated gunfire will be at the Dawn Service between 6.30am-6.45am.

At the Main Service, a wreath-laying ceremony will be preceded by the traditional March, which commences at Dome Café at 10.40am and continues along Forrest Street before finishing at Birdwood House.

An ANZAC Day Service will also be held in Mullewa and will see a free ANZAC Day breakfast take place at 7.30am, followed by a March that leads into a Service at 11am, with a morning tea following the service.

Walkaway will also be holding a Dawn ANZAC Day Service and wreath-laying ceremony, taking place at Walkaway Station Museum at 6am. A community breakfast will follow at the Walkaway Public Hall at a cost of $5.
