Age appropriate accommodation moves into Mullewa

Construction of Mullewa’s new age appropriate housing has begun and it’s set to provide elderly residents with affordable accommodation solutions.

The houses, located on Mills Street, feature both one and two-bedroom units and are designed with accessibility and healthcare in mind.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the new age appropriate housing would provide much-needed respite for community members.

“The units are extremely accessible and contain scallion roofs, backup power supplies and bold colours to provide easy identification of objects for occupants,” he said.

“I congratulate all the organisations involved in this project and look forward to the units opening later this year.”

MEEDAC Business Manager Milton Milloy said the new units will allow MEEDAC to diversify.

“We will now be able to provide assistance to those in Mullewa and allow them to stay in their local area, where they are close to friends and family,” he said.

Mullewa’s new age appropriate housing is made possible thanks to the funding and support of Western Australia Country Health Service and MEEDAC.
