Online Form - Best Moments on Country Photo Exhibition and Competition

As part of the National Reconciliation Week 2025, the Midwest community is invited to submit photos that best encapsulate ‘Best Moments on Country’.

Successful entries will be featured in an exhibition at the Museum of Geraldton, from 9 May 2025 – 9 June 2025.

There will be prizes for the winners in the form of Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift cards.

Terms and conditions

Conditions of Entry:

The artworks will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. A. relationship to the theme of being on country. 0/60
  2. B. Uniqueness, originality, and appeal 0/40
  • Entries will be open to the ages 18 and above, with no fee requirements.
  • Entrants can NOT be City of Greater Geraldton (City) staff or direct family member.
  • Entries must be submitted by the official website link by 9am on Friday 7 March 2025.
  • Each entrant can only submit 1 photo image for consideration.
  • Each entrant can only submit 1 photo image of the same aspect for consideration.
  • Entrants can only submit their own photo image and not of someone else’s image.
  • Successful entries will be printed on ACM graphics with matte laminate, for the exhibition at the Museum of Geraldton, from 9 May 2025 – 9 June 2025.
  • The City will select up to 40 images from submitted entries for the exhibition.
  • Awards will be delivered as a two level competition, winners will be awarded with a Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift card, the first prize sum of $300 and the second prize with the sum of $100 will be awarded and each entry chosen for display by judges.
  • The winners of the competition will be announced at a later date.
  • Winners will be contacted directly.
  • Must be a resident of the Midwest region to enter.
  • Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Judge’s decisions will be final.
  • On completion of the exhibitions all entrants will be contacted to collect materials.

Technical specifications:

  • All images must be submitted as high resolution file.
  • The final dimensions of the photo will become A2 size 3mm ACM graphics with matte laminate, edge wrapped for the purpose of the exhibition.
  • Participants must submit images in PDF or JPEG format and must be the original work of the participant.
  • Assistance with scanning high resolution images or other technical assistance is available on request from the Aboriginal Engagement Officer.

Entrants will be required to agree to the following conditions before prizes can be awarded:

  1. In submitting any image, it is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that the work does not infringe on the Intellectual Property Rights of any person and shall indemnify and keep indemnified the City of Greater Geraldton against all costs, expenses and liabilities arising out of or in connection with any claim that the work infringes the intellectual Property Rights of any person.
  1. The participants accept that their artwork is in open public space and that therefore the City can take no responsibility or liability for any damages, natural or otherwise.
  1. The participants accept and consent to the City taking photographic images of artworks and participants for the purposes of promotion.

  2. In the event that a participant espouses or makes public comment in association with the competition which is counter to the competition’s inclusive values. The City reserves the right to reject an entrant’s inclusion in the completion, including removing submissions from the exhibition, and withholding potential awards.
