About the position:
The City has a unique and exciting opportunity available for a Strategic Planning Officer to join the City Growth branch and contribute to shaping the City of Greater Geraldton in a way that allows our community to thrive. The role will make a significant contribution to the delivery of the City’s strategic work program that includes review of the local strategic plan and planning scheme within the next 2 years.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity, however candidates seeking part-time employment are encouraged to apply.
Key accountabilities:
- Implement Council resolutions and assist in the provision of regular reports to the Manager City Growth on progress of action.
- Assist and contribute towards the identification, development, implementation and review of guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to strategic planning.
- Work collaboratively with the Coordinator Strategic Planning on the implementation and administration of the activities of the strategic planning area and recommend initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiencies.
- Undertake the processing of strategic planning matters in compliance with all relevant statutory requirements.

Position requirements:
Qualified planners will hold a degree in Town Planning or equivalent qualification recognised by Planning Institute of Australia, with experience in complex strategic planning projects. All candidates must have comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and requirements within Western Australia, and knowledge of project management including budget monitoring and managing key stakeholder relationships.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
The Strategic Planning Officer position has a salary starting from $103,899 per annum or $52.5805 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
Candidates with lesser experience and qualifications seeking a developmental opportunity are encouraged to apply where a salary starting from $97,157 per annum or $49.1684 per hour will be offered.
