One of Geraldton’s most beloved sporting facilities will be getting a facelift thanks to a recent funding announcement from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund.

Eadon Clark Oval’s pitches two and five will be revamped to bring them in line with current Cricket Australia and AFL requirements.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune welcomed the funding announcement.

“Eadon Clarke Oval is synonymous with cricket in our region, and it is fantastic to see the popular facility being improved,” he said.

“With the growing interest in the sport and the dramatic increase in the participation of female cricketers it is important that players have access to top quality facilities.

“In addition to the replacement of pitch two’s concrete block which forms the base of the pitch, new synthetic turf will be added to both pitch two and pitch five and rubber pitch covers will also be purchased so that the oval can be used year-round for a range of sports.”

“I would like to thank the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, Cricket Australia and WA Cricket for their support without which these improvements would not have been possible,” added Mayor Clune.

Upgrades to the Eadon Clarke Oval cricket pitches were 50% funded as part of a successful grant application though the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund as well as funding allocated in the City of Greater Geraldton Budget 2024/2025.

Works at Eadon Clarke Oval are expected to commence from late September and be completed by mid-October.
