Spring Trash and Treasure will be the perfect opportunity to clear your home of any unwanted items and make some cash while you’re at it.
The City of Greater Geraldton’s newest event is designed to change attitudes and perceptions around waste by promoting reuse and recycling options.
As well as people being able to set up a stall to sell their unwanted items, there will also be suitable recycling bins for those who don’t want to lug their unsold materials home.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the event was a great opportunity for many who needed to have a spring clean out.
“This is the perfect time to get rid of all those dusty items laying around the home,” he said.
“Maybe you can’t get out to the tip or you haven’t had the chance to hold a garage sale – this is the perfect chance to have a clean out and make some cash.
“We all remember the old school car boot sales and trash and treasures and we are hoping this will give many of our community members the opportunity for their things to be reused and not end up in landfill.”
The event will be held at the QEII Seniors and Community Centre on Saturday 15 September from 9am to noon.
There will be entertainment, kids’ activities and food onsite.
Local clubs, groups or friends and family are encouraged to band together to create a stand-out stall.
You can load up your vehicle including a trailer to park on Queens Park outside the Centre and we will provide all stallholders with a trestle and chairs or if you prefer you can set up a stall inside the Centre.
The cost is $10 payable on the day and a portion of the proceeds go to charity and all stallholders go in a draw for cash prizes drawn on the day.
To participate you must fill in a booking form before 12 September which are located on the City’s website.
