Geraldton will welcome a multi-million-dollar expansion to an existing retail precinct boasting new shops, a vehicle service centre, fast food outlet as well as increased parking.

The Regional Development Assessment Panel approved the application earlier this month, as recommended by the City of Greater Geraldton.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said it was good news all round.

“I’m proud of how we have collaborated with the proponent on all elements of the application. Together we have achieved a well-designed, high-quality outcome that is a win for our city and region,” he said.

“The expansion of this retail precinct sees a $9.9 million investment that will create job opportunities and increase local retail offerings.

“Deputy Mayor Colliver and myself formed part of the assessment panel and look forward to construction works commencing in the near future.”

Apex Planning’s $9.9 million development will expand upon the Geraldton Homemaker’s Centre located on North West Coastal Highway.

As part of development plans, an additional entrance will be made available on Place Road.

The tenancies proposed include bulky good showrooms, fast food outlet, motor vehicle repair shop.

More information about when construction shall commence will be announced in the coming months.
