If you’re looking to green up your yard you won’t want to miss the Community Nursery’s annual End of Year Plant sale the last weekend in July.

Every year, local native seedlings grown by Community Nursery volunteers that weren’t required for revegetation projects on coastal and inland reserves go on sale to the public.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said interested community members shouldn’t delay as it will be first in best dressed on the day.

“In previous years it didn’t take long till the nursery sold out,” he said.

“I would strongly suggest anyone is interested in greening up their yards and gardens should get there when the gates at 31 Adelaide Street in Waggrakine open at 9am on Saturday 27 July.”

Plant purchases can be made with either cash or EFTPOS, enclosed shoes are essential and don’t forget to bring a box or bag to carry your plants home.

This year Community Nursery Volunteers grew 25,000 seedlings of which more than 22,500 have been planted throughout the City region.

Since 2012, the City and community have planted more than 476,000 seedlings, trees and shrubs and registered them towards the Million Trees project.

“Greening our City is a top community priority and although a million trees may seem like a lot, if we all work together to plant trees and shrubs across our City region we will be creating a lasting legacy for our future generations,” Mayor Van Styn said.

Members of the community who have planted trees or shrubs in the last five years can register them towards the project by visiting the City website here
