To celebrate Greater Geraldton becoming an “Owl Friendly City” a free viewing of Boyd Wykes’ ‘Night Calling’ will be on show, which documents how the movement began.

The short film explains the story on how it all started including the negative impacts that Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides have on local wildlife and tips on how to be Owl Friendly.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the decision to become Owl Friendly has been well received.

“We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from the community since Council made the decision back in July to become an Owl Friendly,” he said.

“That’s why we’ve joined forces with Just Raptors and Owl Friendly Margaret River to celebrate our new status by presenting a free screening of the documentary on how the Owl Friendly movement came about and what we can all do to better protect our birds of prey.

“Boyd Wykes will also be at the launch to answer any questions the community may have.

“Seating at the venue is limited so be sure to secure your free tickets quickly before they are gone.”

The Owl Friendly City Campaign Launch is on Saturday 26 October 2024, from 6pm to 8pm at the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre located on the Geraldton Foreshore.

Tickets are available at the Civic Centre or online at https://events.humanitix.com/city-of-greater-geraldton-owl-friendly-launch
