About the position:

The Weighbridge Operator supports the seven day a week operation of Meru Landfill Waste Disposal Facility. This position is responsible for operating the Weighbridge, providing waste administration support and customer service to all the Landfill users.

This is a permanent part time position, working 41.75 hours per fortnight as part of seven (7) day a week rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage all weighbridge functions at the Meru Landfill Facility.
  • Work with and advise general public and contractors using Meru Waste Disposal Facility in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate details of waste entering and leaving the Meru Site using the point-of-sale software.
  • Collect and process fees (both cash and EFTPOS) and balance the till on a daily basis in accordance with the City administrative and financial procedures.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will ideally have demonstrated experience in customer service and operating a weighbridge or have transferable skills in this area. In addition, they will possess strong communication skills with the ability to deal with difficult situations, sound computer knowledge and developed numeracy skills.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $65,211 per annum (pro rata) or $33.00 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
