About the position:

The Waste Technical Officer position will provide technical support to the Waste team in the daily operations of Waste Services for the City of Greater Geraldton. This will include contract administration, customer service enquiries, preparation and monitoring of financial reports and invoicing for the Waste Team. Additionally, this position is also responsible for assisting in the monitoring of minor waste contracts.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for the administration of the on-site point of sale software and liaise with the software company as required.
  • Ensure all waste financial reporting is reconciled, investigated, and corrected as required. This includes following up on incorrect customer transactions, refunds, and reimbursements.
  • Develop and maintain waste services processes and procedures.
  • Provide assistance in delivering projects in compliance with Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and City’s procedures and policies.
  • Assist in the management of the Waste Management minor Contracts and assist the waste team with daily operations.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will ideally hold a Diploma in Business or Contract Administration. Or have a lesser qualification with previous relevant experience and sound understanding of waste management in local government.  Additionally, experience in writing reports, grant submissions and documents to a professional standard will be highly regarded.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary range between $78,497 to $82,745 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate as it relates to the requirements of the position.
