About the position:

This position provides input across the Infrastructure Services department with a focus on environmental planning, implementation of climate change and sustainability actions, and on-ground rehabilitation works in City reserves and natural areas. The role will also assist with planning investigations and grant funding applications.

This position is offered as fixed term full time parental leave cover until October 2025.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide environmental and sustainability support to the Infrastructure Services department including site inspections, contractor supervision, planning investigations, and community nursery operations.
  • Assist in the development of environmental and sustainability strategies, work programs, and project planning.
  • Assist with financial management activities including compiling information for budget preparation, raising requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Assist members of the public with environmental and sustainability enquires.
  • Attend meetings in relation to environmental and sustainability issues.
  • Provide technical advice when requested by internal and external customers.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will hold relevant qualification and/or experience in the horticulture and natural resource management field. In addition, they will be a sound communicator with experience in negotiation, problem solving and effective liaison with people.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $72,450 per annum or $36.66 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
