About the position:

The City has a unique and exciting opportunity available for a Coordinator Building Surveying to join the City Growth branch and contribute to shaping the City of Greater Geraldton in a way that allows our community to thrive.  

This is a permanent full-time position offering you the opportunity to use your experience and skills in the building industry to shape the way in which the City’s Building Surveying services are delivered so that they are customer focused, efficient, compliant with legislative requirements and aligned to corporate objectives and values. You will also contribute to building the skills and knowledge of our Building Surveying team so they can deliver services professionally and with confidence. 

Key accountabilities:

  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the Manager City Growth, shaping the City of Greater Geraldton’s building surveying services so that it is customer focused, efficient, compliant with legislative requirements and aligned to corporate objectives and values.
  • Undertake business planning for the Building Surveying Team, including establishing team goals, action plans to achieve those goals, work programs and undertaking risk management.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the City’s building surveying services by the Building Surveying Team, providing leadership and recommending initiatives aimed at improving service delivery.
  • Monitor the activities of the Building Surveying Team and provide regular reports to the Director Development Services and Manager City Growth demonstrating alignment with Corporate Business and Operational plans.
  • Coordinate the development of the knowledge, skills and capacity of the Building Surveying Team through mentoring, coaching, training and other forms professional development.

Position requirements:

The successful candidate will hold formal qualifications and experience as a Building Surveying Practitioner Level 2 relevant to Western Australia Building Commission requirements. All candidates must have comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and requirements within Western Australia, leadership and office management experience including budget monitoring and managing key stakeholder relationships.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

The Coordinator Building Surveying position has a salary starting from $120,593 per annum or $61.0287 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
