Spalding’s future takes shape

A plan for the future of Spalding is coming together with draft designs for the area being presented at community drop-in sessions on Wednesday 13 February 2019.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the draft plans have the potential to change the way Spalding looks and feels.

“The draft designs feature possible new road connections to make it easier to get around or using large blocks of vacant land for aged care facilities or even a community farm,” he said.

“However, it’s the central area of the suburb around the Mitchell Street Community Centre and the land behind it which has the most potential for future development which could include a community garden and shops.

“If you would like to have your say on these ideas and many others that will help shape the future of Spalding then you won’t want to miss attending one of the drop-in sessions.”

Two Community Drop-In Sessions will be held at the Mitchell Street Community Centre on Wednesday 13 February with Session 1 taking place from 1.30-3pm and Session 2 from 4.30-6pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The State Government Department of Communities and the City of Greater Geraldton have partnered to develop a precinct plan for the future development of the Spalding suburb.
