Connectivity and livability in Mullewa is set to receive a boost in the new financial year with a number of important projects earmarked for completion and the continued delivery of services and engaging events.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said he was pleased to see a focus on roads and recreation this year.

“The community have been asking for investment in Mullewa’s infrastructure for a while now and I am pleased the new Budget is delivering for the community,” he said.

“For instance, $500,000 is being spent on shoulder sealing and widening on the Mullewa-Mingenew Road that will enhance safety for road users and broaden the types of vehicles that are able to access the route.

“Eight of Mullewa’s district roads will also be upgraded with $670,000 being allocated to gravel sheeting covering a total of 27kms which also includes the resealing of four rural road intersections.

Alongside enhancing the regions roads considerable investment is also being allocated to Mullewa’s facilities and services.

“Ensuring Mullewa is an accessible and attractive place to live remains important,” Mayor Clune added.

“With this in mind we will be replacing the Mullewa Coaster Bus, renewing the tanks and pipes that service Mullewa’s recreation grounds and upgrading Mullewa Recreation Centre and Town Hall.

“Not to be forgotten the beloved Doc Docherty Pool will also be receiving a glow up with $69,000 being spent on change room upgrades and additional shade structures for the warmer months.”

The culvert repair program is also set to continue with the Nubberoo project well underway.
