Fostering grassroots leadership as well as building capacity, resilience and connectedness through volunteerism are the objectives behind an exciting new community initiative.

Working in partnership with the Bank of I.D.E.A.S. (Initiatives for the Development of Enterprising Action and Strategies) the City of Greater Geraldton is hosting a four-month free program that seeks to empower residents to become more involved in building the community.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is encouraging interested locals register for the workshops.

“The Community Builders Program provides a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our community at no financial cost,” he said.

“Peter Kenyon is an industry leader in this space, and we are extremely fortunate to have him onboard to facilitate the workshops.

“I urge everyone who would like to take more ownership and be more engaged in our community to register and come along.”

“Additionally, I would like to thank the State Government for their generous support of this innovative program,” added Mayor Clune.

The first session of the Community Builders Program commences Thursday 1 August between 4.30pm-7.30pm at the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre where refreshments will be provided.

The Community Builders Program is made possible by support from the State Government through the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
