Exciting times are ahead for artists in the Midwest following Geraldton Regional Art Gallery’s (GRAG) announcement of its first ever arts membership program.

An innovative new initiative the Mid West Arts Membership (MWAM) is open to all artists living or working in the Midwest, providing the chance to upskill through workshops as well as gain valuable experience exhibiting in a professional gallery setting.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune is enthusiastic about the Gallery’s latest offering.

“Geraldton Regional Art Gallery has long been supportive of Midwest artists and the MWAM will provide further opportunity for individuals and organisations to take their art to the next level,” he said.

“With the first MWAM Members Exhibition opening on Saturday 14 September I encourage all of our aspiring artists to sign up as soon as possible and take part in the Exhibition-Ready Workshops so their work is tip top prior to submission.

“I look forward to seeing what our talented creatives accomplish as part of this visionary new program.”

“I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries as well as Lotterywest for their support in bringing this program to life,” added Mayor Clune.

Geraldton Regional Art Gallery will be hosting a MWAM Open Day on Saturday 20 July between 10am – 1pm for prospective members to find out more about the program as well as other exciting opportunities within the local arts space.

The Mid West Arts Membership program and Open Day have been made possible through funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and Lotterywest.

Free tickets to this event are available at Humanitix

Mid West Arts Membership enrolments are also available via the GRAG website.
