Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Cards - Information for Businesses
This page provides information for businesses who would like to join the Buy Local project as redemption stores (where you spend a card).
How do I sign my business up?
All you need is an EFTPOS machine to reap the benefits. The Square brand EFTPOS terminals are unfortunately unable to process the type of transaction required for this project.

Then:
- Click on the “ Full list tab”
- Select Geraldton
- Click on Register Here.
- Complete the form and submit
Once your business has been vetted you will receive an email to confirm if your application has been successful. Then the next step is to set up your EFTPOS terminal(s)
My business has been accepted. What now?
A member of the Economic Development Team of the City of Greater Geraldton will contact you and make an appointment to activate your EFTPOS terminal(s) in store. This is a quick, simple process of failing a sale using the gift card, and include the following steps:
Type in 0.01c sale on terminal,
- Swipe the activation card gift,
- Select Savings
- Input an INCORRECT PIN of 9999.
- The decline will give correct terminal information for Why Leave Town to add you to their system.
Please note: no changes are made to your terminal in this process. The same information can be read from a receipt from your store.

The City of Greater Geraldton occasionally needs to communicate with you regarding new projects, important events (Seroja, COVID-19) or on general topics such as funding availability. A business survey undertaken at the advent of the COVID 19 pandemic also showed that businesses prefer direct email notifications rather than generic social media postings for information about opportunities, news or notices.
To enable better communication we have set up an opportunity for businesses to register on the Visit Geraldton website, which will enable you to update your own information. This provides you with an opportunity to showcase your business and also receive notices etc.

The Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Card (below refer as ‘Gift Card’ or ‘Gift Cards’) program is brought to you by the City of Greater Geraldton and our generous sponsors.
To participate in the Buy Local Greater Geraldton gift card initiative your business is required to be locally owned and operated or be a locally owned franchise.
The Gift Cards are issued by the EML Payment Solutions Limited ABN 30 131 436 532, AFSL 404131. EML is the issuer of the Gift Cards and has authorised Why Leave Town ABN 81 180 759 556, to distribute the Gift Cards. Why Leave Town https://www.whyleavetown.com/ is a small business that was founded in 2007.
The operating system of the Gift Cards is managed by Why Leave Town. Why Leave Town has a Privacy Policy to guarantee your privacy.
By purchasing a Gift Card, spending the funds available on a Gift Card as a customer, or registering as a Load Up Store or/and a Redemption Store, you agree to comply with the Terms & Conditions provided by Why Leave Town.
